Meet Island Batik Ambassador Jennifer Strauser!
Please, meet Jennifer Strauser of Dizzy Quilter, who has been an Island Batik Ambassador since 2018! Jennifer is a loving mother of 2 sons and a professional quilter, living in New Jersey.
Quilting is not just a business to Jennifer – it is also a form of meditation. She started her very first quilt top when she was about 13, but it didn’t become a passion until she had a toddler, and was actively searching for something she could control. Jennifer decided to make him a special memento of their travels to the Caribbean, found batik fabrics and the rest is history! It also fulfills her artistic aspirations – when she starts mixing fabrics she is able to create beautiful things.
Quilt made for November 2019 Island Batik Ambassador challenge, Tool Time. Jennifer used Island Batik Kaleidoscope fabric designed by Kathy Engle, a pattern by Melanie Tuazon, batting by Hobbs. When we asked her about her process of picking colors for a new project, Jennifer smiled: “I wish I could say I use a sophisticated palette, working with analogous colors or fancy harmonies, but that would be a lie. I use what excites me in the moment. I mostly enjoy really saturated colors in a rainbow array.”
Please, follow Jennifer on social media to see what gorgeous quilts she creates with beautiful Island Batik fabric, Aurifil thread, batting by Hobbs, AccuQuilt dies and Schmetz needles:
