I made a very large Quilt early in my experience…it measured 130 x 130. As I was working on it, everyone referred to it as… The car cover.

nothing I can think of.. but love looking at all the bags and wow the fabric a beautiful…

I was helping with guild charity quilts and was set up to press rows for people after they were sewn. I had never heard or seen the “webbing” was of sewing rows before, so I was pressing the blocks in all the same direction. Someone had to come explain to me how webbing a quilt top worked and how to press the rows so they nested. Luckily I hadn’t pressed many before someone explained it!

Unfortunately I can’t think of anything funny or querky. But I’m loving these bags and fabric!

I can’t think of anything unusual, just the normal backward block, etc. But, like all quilters that have been quilting for a while, I had not realized how many UFOs I had collected until I made a list. It was so easy to put a current project aside and start a new one for a gift, or the excitement of a new technique or pattern/fabric.

(When checking to see if I had entered for this week, I realized that I made a comment on 11/3 but forgot to hit the “I commented” button, which I now did on 11/5. Hope that doesn’t count against me??)

Great bags! I was sewing earlier today, and had to run out to deliver a quilt. I didn’t realize until later that I had threads all over my shirt. Hazard of the trade, actually.

I once made a dop bag and when I did the turning after it was sewn, I discovered that the handle went across the bottom of the bag rather than across the side. So I ended up with a bag with a zipper on top and the handle on the other side.

I love byAnnie’s patterns! Their instructions are so easy to follow.

When my son was maybe 2 or 3 I had raced to take a shower while his infant brother napped and I ‘thought” he was playing nearby. When I got out of the shower he proudly presented me with what he thought was a masterpiece…a chopped up block that I was planning to use in a baby quilt I was making for a friend….needless to say he understood that my sewing room was off limits from there on in…and now at 30 (yes, he has managed to avoid serious injury!!), he knows to ask which pair of scissors to use for his projects!!

I do not have any unusually funny stories but Love the fabrics and bags being made. Thank you !

I love Island Batik!

Nothing too funny but sewing blocks together and getting one sideways always make me laugh … as I pick it out! Boo! Hoo!

I can’t think of anything at the moment. I love these bags and the gorgeous fabrics.

I don’t really have any funny quilting experiences, although I can relate to Melody Lutz’s huge quilt anecdote. One of my first quilting projects was an American flag I saw on Simply Quilts. My partner saw the show and said, as he walked through the room, “Hey, I like that!”, so I thought I would make it for him. I was such a new quilter that I never looked at the dimensions and just got busy making HSTs–so, so many of them. I realized why when I started putting the thing together and wound up with a flag almost big enough to cover a bed.

I had a similar experience as Melody Lutz…only people referred to my huge quilt as “The Driveway!” Daily, I got comments such as…”have you finished that driveway yet?” Haha

When I switch from sewing on one machine to another I always start to use the wrong buttons; like sewing backwards or embarassing as it is where to turn on the machine!

It’s probably a fairly common thing to do, but several times I’ve accidentally sewn the project I’m working on to my skirt when hand sewing.

Unfortunately I can’t think of anything funny or quirky. But I’m loving these bags and fabric!

I was wearing a long shirt while hand quilting and sewed myself into the quilt!

I made a flannel and Minky blanket for my granddaughter. The directions called it a 30-minute project; but I sewed it the wrong way and had to rip it apart (twice). So her ‘30-minute’ blanket is really about a ‘ten-hour’ blanket!

I had a quilt laid out on the floor, the top mostly sewn together. I was walking with a tea cup in my hand, the tea mostly gone, but just a small amount left in the cup… and I tripped over the toe of my shoe. Tea splattered all over my quilt top!

While I can’t think of any funny stories right now, I keep remembering the frustrating times. Times when I’ve sewn things together incorrectly or accidently folded over some of the excess fabric on the back of a quilt while quilting it.Ugh! I love making bags and purses, especially from batik fabric, so I’m really enjoying this blog hop. Thank you for the awesome new fabrics!

I made a quilt that was assembled in 3 sections and I put one section in upside down. Didn’t notice until the quilt was quilted and bound and I took a photo. Yikes! That took some time to fix.

I can’t think of anything funny other than looking back at mistakes and laughing at them

One of my first sewing projects was making a swimsuit for myself. I had a lot of help from my older, more experienced sister. I had chosen the fabric for my 2 piece suit with an apron type top. It was the newest style and I had to fit in! I remember sewing several seams while my sister overlooked every detail. The funny part came when I wore the suit to the city pool. I quickly learned that apron part of the suit could be inflated if I blew into the wet fabric. I could now use my top as a raft! Yep, now all my friends wanted one too!

I can’t think of anything funny, but my 5 year old grandson has watched me at various stages of quilt making and it is fun when he recognizes a quilt in progress.

My first quilting experience was paper piecing a Mariner’s Star. After several attempts, I just gave up and sewed it together. Needless to say, my group did not use my block!
